Adenium

July 4, 2008

This is one of the Adeniums I got from buried treasures. It seems like the larger ones are healthier than the newly grafted ones. Some of the newly grafted Adeniums I have bought from them have died. :(

This one is doing well.

More Adeniums

July 4, 2008

I got these Adeniums from Wal-Mart.  I think they are kind of pretty.  They are nothing super special, but, they are pretty.

My Adenium Seedling

July 4, 2008

This is one of the seeds I planted last year from rare exotic seeds. I think it’s doing pretty well. The blooms aren’t anything special, but it is special to me  since it was from my first batch of sprouted Adeniums. This was a seed that was labeled as “Dark Forest”.

Red Adenium Hybrid

July 4, 2008

My Red Adenium hybrid today.  The blooms open up with a black edge and a pretty deep red.  As the days go by the flower color fades.  I don’t know if this is completely normal, or that our AZ sun is just so blinding that it bleaches the petals.

Adenium Obesum Babies

May 12, 2008

So these are my new little babies. I think here in AZ, these guys sprout better in peat moss. I think this will be my preferred sprouting medium.

Adenium 2008

April 5, 2008

Here are my poor little Adeniums.  Some of them lost a lot off the top.  Ok, so maybe they will develop better roots, or maybe more branching.

More Adenium Seeds

April 3, 2008

I received and planted the seeds I ordered from rare exotic seeds.  I had an all Adenium order this year.  Adeniums seem to be pretty easy to grow, so I decided to get Adenium Somalense, Adenium Bright gem, Adenium Fragrant Delight, Adenium Star of red sparkles, Adenium Super Perfume, Adenium Zaftig Moon, and Pachypodium geayi.  I just finished planting them, so hopefully I will have the same luck I had last year.

Adenium in the Winter – UPDATE

March 2, 2008

After my last Adenium post, I started to water my Adeniums. They are definitely perking up. I was sure they’d be fine, but I still worry. I did lose one, the only Fragrant star I had left. It turned to mush. Oh well, it was the smallest one and struggled a bit too, so, it’s not such a big loss.

Adenium in the Winter

February 17, 2008

So far, I don’t think I treated my Adeniums as I should have. Most of them withered on the tips. They just shriveled and turned brown (just the tips). It’s not rot, as far as I can tell. I think it’s just due to me not watering them. I think that I should have continued to water them until I saw signs of dormancy, but no, I stopped watering them before I think they went dormant. They are tough plants so I am sure they will be fine. Lesson learned.

Adenium Seedling Bloom (Another pic)

December 4, 2007

Since the Adenium seedling bloomed, the color changed. I can now see more of the white.

Another note, I have left the Adenium outside. The temperatures have been from 45-78 F. I will probably bring the blooming one in if the highs will be in the 60’s.
