Charisma Rose

April 20, 2008

I saw this rose and I thought it was so pretty. It is a Charisma floribunda rose. The flowers are very interesting. They have red, orange and a little bit of yellow. The colors from rose to rose vary.

Hydrangea

April 12, 2008

I got this Hydrangea last Spring.  It had died back completely, but I watered and watered it, and now look at it.  It even has little buds.

Tulips “Queen of the Night”

April 5, 2008

The color in these pictures closely resembles the true color of the tulip.

I remember when I lived with my mom, having these kinds of Tulips.  They are so pretty.

Jade Plant

March 22, 2008

I think I got this one from Home Depot. It was a seriously stressed plant. It had weird white spots all over the place. It was only .50, so I couldn’t resist. I brought it home and it looked like it was a few plants in one pot. Some of the smaller plants looked healthy, so I decided to dig in and separate them into different pots. I also separated them to different parts of the yard. Only three of the 7 or 8 plants made it. This is the largest one. I like it. I keep it outside, water it and it’s fine. Pretty low maintenance.

Calla Lily 2

March 22, 2008

I have a few Calla Lilys. My second Calla Lily bloomed also. It’s next to my Jasmine vine. It is slightly in the picture too.

Daylily Seedling

March 16, 2008

Most of the seeds I got I let rot. I couldn’t take them out because it was too cold, although, I did for a few days, take them out, to try to save them, but without success. The only one that was saved was the Daylily seedling. It’s looking good.

Windflower or Weed

March 16, 2008

I got some bulbs from Directgardening.com, but a lot of them rotted or were rotting. I put some bulbs in a pot. They looked dry and dead, but something that looked like a weed came up and I decided not to pull it. I thought that maybe there might be a chance that it might be one of the bulbs. I remember “Anemone”, but I don’t remember if I put it in that pot or not. So is it a weed or a windflower? I don’t know, but it’s pretty so I’ll keep it.

Well, now it has started to bloom, and by the looks of it, I need to go and kill some aphids. 🙂

Iris Seedlings

March 16, 2008

My Iris seedlings are now a little closer to looking like Iris, and I have a new little sprout. (As a reminder, I got these from http://www.rarexoticseeds.com/) They sure like taking their sweet time, but the outlook looks good for them. I just have to remember to keep them watered when our high temperatures start.

Elephant Ear Bulbs

March 16, 2008

I bought two elephant ear bulbs at Wal-Mart. They were less than $4 each. I am curious to compare the Malanga and Taro roots to these elephant ear bulbs. The original Malanga sprout seems to have died back with a bit of the “cold” temperatures. Another little leaf has sprouted and turned brown and died, but another one came up immediately to replace it. I think this is the start of it growing.

I got a little impatient with the Taro root I bought from Kmart and so I started digging. Sure enough there was a little sprout underneath the soil. as I dug, I heard a crunch, so I hope I didn’t break it. (Note to self…Quit being so impatient!)

So…this is what my Malanga root from Food City looks like today.

This is what my Taro root from Kmart looks like today. I didn’t “crunch” the top growth after all!

White Iris

March 14, 2008

I separated some of the white Iris that my mom gave me in a pot and planted them in the ground. I was surprised to find a bloom today.
